ON Energy Partners with Shire Oak International to Develop a 1.3 MWp Solar Power Project at the DKSF Factory – Vinh Loc 2 Industrial Park

On the morning of December 2, 2021, ON Energy Green Energy Joint Stock Company held the groundbreaking ceremony for the rooftop solar energy project at the DKSF factory, with a capacity of 1.3 MWp, located in Vinh Loc 2 Industrial Park.

The rooftop solar power project at DKSF was developed by Shire Oak, and ON Energy was selected as the general contractor for the project, expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2022. It is estimated that the electricity output will reach approximately 1.6 million kWh per year and reduce 40,000 tons of CO2 annually.

In the current context of scarce energy resources, the installation of a rooftop solar power system with a capacity of 1.3 MWp, once operational, will provide a stable power source for the production and business activities of the DKSF factory.

With the terrain, climate, and weather characteristics, our country has significant potential for solar radiation. It is estimated that the technical potential for solar power development in Vietnam could reach up to 340,000 MWp.

With the government’s policies encouraging the development of electricity from renewable energy sources, many solar power projects have been invested in and constructed. Among them, rooftop solar power is a type with numerous advantages and strong potential for future development due to benefits such as: not requiring land area; effectively enhancing heat insulation for buildings; being small-scale and installed in a decentralized manner, allowing connection to the existing low- and medium-voltage power grid without the need for additional investment in transmission systems. Rooftop solar power is particularly suitable for factories with large roof areas and high electricity demands.
